Discover how your institution can best prepare its graduates for the competitive job market with the latest findings from the QS Global Employer Survey.

Many global employers (66%) are looking for graduates with professional experience, with 66% of surveyed employers choosing it as their top recruitment priority.

This clearly demonstrates the importance of internships, or professional experience, for graduates as they enter the job market.

When breaking this finding down by industry, employers in the technology industry and the renewable energy industry value it the most (69%), followed by consulting and professional services (68%) and research and development and science (68%).

These findings are pulled from the annual QS Global Employer Survey, which amassed more than 13,000 responses from employers across the globe.

To summarize these findings, QS recently released the QS Employer Insights Report 2020 [add link when live], which details the recruitment priorities of employers, the skills gaps identified in recent graduates, and the skills students should nurture when preparing to graduate and enter the job market.

For the first time, the report also covers a pulse survey of employers to understand how the coronavirus crisis has impacted them and how they recruit graduates.

This can better inform institutions on how to prepare their graduates for the job market and improve their graduate employability in these turbulent times.

Interestingly, surveyed employers stated that reviewing CV/personal statements was the most important service when preparing students for the recruitment process with 63% choosing this option.

Additionally, 46% of respondents chose mock interviews and 45% chose one-to-one meetings with career advisors.

For those institutions who wish to place their graduates in the best position possible for employment, these findings and other insights gleaned from the QS Global Employer Survey are crucial.
